VoiceXML (VXML)

VoiceXML (in short: VXML) is a standardised scripting language for creating voice applications. It was specially developed for voice applications and to link telephony with the internet.

Telenet’s voice platforms offer VoiceXML as a further optional development environment. It is based on the range of functions of the VoiceXML standard version 2.0, an international programming language that was standardised by the World Wide Web Consortium W3C.

With Voice XML providers can operate voice sites, which provide fast and easy telephone access to information on a web server.

Advantages of VoiceXML over traditional development tools:

Portable. Applications written in VoiceXML can be operated on a number of system platforms with a VoiceXML browser. The investment of users is protected across these system platforms. Once developed, these applications can be easily migrated to a new system environment.

Easy to learn. Web developers with experience in HTML can easily learn to develop the software for VoiceXML applications.
